We’re saddened to hear of the passing of Lester Sterling, alto saxophonist of the pioneering band, The Skatilites. He was the last living hornsman of the original lineup, and with “Ska” Sterling having departed this doomed planet, a page is now turned in music history. The Skatilites as a functioning legacy/tribute band still play and keep their music alive (with original vocalist Doreen Shaeffer), but we tip our pork pie tonight to Lester and his bandmates, with sets of the finest original Ska tunes that will groove forever.
